Hypnotherapy

As effective as psychotherapy can be for a variety of issues, there are times where no amount of insight or coaching really gets to the root of our desire to keep on with our self-sabotaging behaviors or beliefs. A decade of seeing this in my clients, my colleagues’ clients, and even myself led me to study how human beings really make lasting changes in their behavior.

Though it is called by many names in different fields of study — the unconscious mind, the subconscious, the non-verbal brain, the “id” — there is a force inside us that governs our behavior that just isn’t influenced by facts, logic or cognitive-behavioral intervention. My studies of this force eventually led me to try hypnotherapy for myself, and my very successful experiences as a client inspired me to train in hypnotherapy so that I could use this transformative, efficient process with my own clients.

That part of you that doesn’t listen to facts or good advice, ignores your desire to make positive changes, and continues to sabotage your efforts can be made an ally. Hypnotherapy can help.

I now use hypnotherapy, in combination with motivational interviewing, to help people with a variety of issues, including:

  • changing eating habits
  • reducing alcohol consumption
  • increasing motivation for exercise
  • smoking cessation
  • difficult phobias and sensitivities
  • social anxiety
  • physical ailments influenced by emotional issues
  • truly “getting over” past relationships, grief, and upsetting past events
